Overview
Adipotide (FTPP) is a chimeric peptide developed at MD Anderson that targets prohibitin on white-adipose endothelial cells and delivers a pro-apoptotic KLAKLAK sequence.
Mechanism of action
Selectively binds vasculature that supports white adipose tissue, triggering endothelial apoptosis and involution of the fat depot. Preserves brown adipose tissue.
Evidence base
Primate studies showed ~11% body-weight reduction and improved insulin sensitivity over 4 weeks. Human trials halted early due to renal toxicity concerns.
Typical dosing
Only administered under research conditions historically; no established human dosing. Open the dose calculator →
Safety & contraindications
Dose-dependent nephrotoxicity is the primary concern. Not recommended for use outside monitored research settings.
