GHRP-2 — a hexapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue used diagnostically in Japan.

Half-life

Route
Subcutaneous, intravenous

Overview

Pralmorelin (GHRP-2) is a synthetic hexapeptide approved in Japan as a diagnostic agent (Kaken) for assessing pituitary GH reserve in children.

Mechanism of action

Ghrelin/GHS-R agonism producing rapid, robust GH release. Also raises cortisol and prolactin modestly, unlike ipamorelin.

Evidence base

Well-characterised diagnostic tool; adult research on lean mass and IGF-1 increases exists but no chronic-use approval.

Typical dosing

Diagnostic single dose: 100 mcg subcutaneously. Research chronic-use protocols cite 100–300 mcg 1–3× daily. Open the dose calculator →

Safety & contraindications

Transient cortisol/prolactin bumps at higher doses. Injection-site reactions. Long-term human safety data limited.
