Overview

Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue developed by Novo Nordisk as a cleaner alternative to earlier GHRPs.

Mechanism of action

Binds the ghrelin (GHS-R1a) receptor on somatotrophs, triggering GH release. Unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2, it does not measurably raise cortisol, ACTH or prolactin at typical doses.

Evidence base

Human pharmacology studies confirm dose-dependent GH pulses without HPA-axis activation. Never advanced past phase 2 for its original postoperative ileus indication.

Typical dosing

Research protocols commonly 200–300 mcg subcutaneously, 1–3 times daily, most often at bedtime and pre-workout. Open the dose calculator →

Safety & contraindications

Mild flushing or head rush shortly after injection is common. Long-term human safety data limited.

Common stacks

Standard pairing with CJC-1295 or sermorelin (GHRH + GHRP synergy).
