Overview
Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8) is a synthetic peptide developed by Lipotec that mimics the N-terminus of SNAP-25, one of the SNARE proteins targeted by botulinum toxin.
Mechanism of action
Competes with SNAP-25 in the SNARE complex, modestly reducing catecholamine-driven muscle contraction in the superficial dermis — a fraction of the potency of botulinum toxin.
Evidence base
Small dermatology studies report ~10–30% reduction in wrinkle depth after 4–8 weeks of daily topical use.
Typical dosing
Topical 5–10% serum applied to expression lines once or twice daily. Open the dose calculator →
Safety & contraindications
Topical use very well tolerated. Systemic absorption is negligible.
